Products and Applications
Generation Biotech and its commercialization partner currently offers specialized products for site or region specific DNA extraction used for a wide variety of purposes and down-stream assays including tissue typing, transposon mapping, sequencing, haplotyping and allele determination.

Region Specific Extraction (RSE) Oligos
Oligos can be designed for any locus of interest provided there is at least one unique site within the locus of interest in the samples that you wish to extract. Each extraction provides a distribution of fragments centered around the extraction point and includes sizes of ~40kb (~20kb upstream or downstream of the extraction site) depending in part on the DNA quality and the method of how it has been prepared.
Resolution of genomic duplications:
RSE can extract whole gene regions to resolve certain sequencing and genotyping difficulties caused by genomic duplications, copy number variants, pseudo-genes and gene homologues.
Reduction of complexity for resequencing:
RSE can extract single exons, entire genes, intronic regions as well as intergenic DNA. Extractions can be multiplexed for candidate regions within the same chromosome or on different chromosomes.

Haplo-Specific Extraction (HSE) Oligos
Haplo-Specific Separation of Parental Alleles:
HSE is available directly from Generation Biotech for haplotyping applications outside of tissue typing. Currently, HSE is being used to determine long range haplotypes in disease association studies. HSE probes can be designed for essentially any polymorphic site, including single nucleotide polymorphisms.
Resolution of Out-of-Phase Sequencing Artifacts:
By separating a sample into its parental alleles, difficult to sequence regions, caused by single or multi-base differences in repetitive elements between the parental alleles (such as STR's) can be simply and completely resolved by HSE and standard sequencing.
HaploPrepTM
HaploPrepTM is being sold for tissue typing applications (solid organ and bone marrow transplantation) through Qiagen Inc. HSE has been proven to resolve all known ambiguities in HLA typing.

Transposon Specific Extraction (TSE) Oligos
Retro-Transposon Mapping:
TSE has been developed to detect the Ty family of "retro"-transposons in S.cerevisiae (yeast). The specially developed TSE oligos can extract gene regions surrounding each class of Ty transposons, providing valuable information regarding the copy number and location of each transposon, when directly used with aCGH. This application is used to examine strain stability and evolution in Yeast.
